Podcast
My podcast consists of edited photos. I began by using a class photo of my students and feathered the selection to vignette the image. Next, I cropped and rotated a photo of the letter Y. I also made a couple of collages for circle time and centers. These collages consist of several photos that have been resized and feathered, copy, and pasted. All of the photos had titles put on the page to help describe them. I also made a page of upcoming events.

About Me
Calyn Schlotfeld
Omaha, Nebraska
My name is Calyn Schlotfeld. I am attending Peru State College working towards my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I am currently teaching Head Start at Saratoga Elementary in the Omaha Public School District. I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2003 with a degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Early Childhood Education. I am married to my husband Joe. We own a sewer and drain cleaning business and have three children named Caleb, Calyssa, and Cayson. I love spending time with my family and teaching my students.
I use technology frequently but feel I could learn a lot more. I use the computer daily to check email, online bill pay, research, google, and downloading photos. I have learned to use the computer in other technology classes but I would like to feel more confident in my use and be able to use it daily. I would like to learn more ways to incorporate technology in the classroom with such young children. I use Microsoft Office and QuikBooks for the business frequently. I am not that familiar with blogs though. Technology is a great reason to be taking these courses.
I decided to obtain my Masters degree through Peru State College because a friend was taking classes and I thought that this would be a great time to do it. I took maternity leave at the beginning of the school year so I thought that being home would be a great opportunity for me. Lets just say it wasn't easy taking classes and having a newborn. Well worth it though especially when I get the pay raise. I wanted to go back to school because I feel like you can never learn too much. I wanted to learn new techniques to use in the classroom and benefit my students.
